Music Department Concerts

A massive congratulations and well done to all the musicians who participated in the three recent February concerts.

Two Concerts were performed on Wednesday 3rd February, a lunchtime Museum Concert featuring our smaller Senior and Sixth Form ensembles and an evening Joint Concert featuring our Sixth Form musicians and musicians from Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Primary School, Armthorpe. There were many fantastic moments in both concerts but particularly impressive were the joint primary and sixth form choir performances, especially of a medley 'from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!'

On Thursday 25th February an exciting and uplifting Spring Concert took place at the wonderful venue of St Paul's Catholic Church, Cantley. The enthusiastic audience was treated to an array of wonderful instrumental and vocal music of an extremely high and consistent standard.

A special mention should be made of our excellent Y13 soloists and conductor who featured across the concerts: Ellie Dabell, William McDonagh, Phoebe Garner, Andrew McAteer, Daniella Godfrey, Jessica Slade & Sophie Bell.
Selected recording from the concerts will be posted shortly.

Year 10 Watch Romeo & Juliet by The Box Clever Theatre Company

Year 10 saw a brilliant performance of Romeo and Juliet yesterday, followed by an interactive workshop. Thanks from all of us to Cory, Maria, and Evie from Box Clever Theatre Company – you were great!

Congratulations to Mrs Shakespeare who has successfully applied to become a Specialist leader of Education. Mrs Shakespeare underwent a rigorous selection process with a number of other candidates and we are delighted that she was contacted this afternoon to confirm that she has been appointed to the role. Mrs Shakespeare joins Mrs. Darwin as an SLE and both will be representing the school in outreach work during the coming academic year.

Message from Governors

During the temporary absence of Mrs Brown through ill health, the Governors have appointed Mr Long as Acting Headteacher.

Creative Writing Competition Success

Our students have, yet again, been successful in a creative writing competition. Thirteen Y7 and Y8 students recently entered the Spine-Chillers mini saga competition and now have the opportunity to be published within an anthology.

The competition proved popular with schools cross the country and they received thousands of entries. Our students work has been selected for publication because of their expression and creative use of language.

Well done!
